In a HEALTH CRISIS how long it takes to get to an emergency room is a matter of LIFE AND DEATH. We need a hospital with a trauma 1 emergency room to replace St Vincent's in Greenwich Village on the West Side of Manhattan. Now there is no hospital or authentic emergency room to treat over a million people who live/work on the West Side in a critical health crisis. Urgent Care, no matter how fancy, can NOT by law, treat critical health emergencies: HEART ATTACK, STROKE, child CHOKING, etc.

WHY CAN'T BLOOMBERG PRACTICE WHAT HE PREACHES?
Today Billionaire Mayor Bloomberg donated $250 thousand dollars in matching funds to Planed Parenthood to replace the funding loss when the Susan B Kromem Cancer Foundation defunded Planned Parenthood in response to right wing attacks over women's right to control their bodies. bloomberg proclaimed POLITICS SHOULD NEVER INTERFERE WITH HEALTHCARE...nice words . Too bad the Mayor did not follow them when he remained silent over the only hospital serving the lower West Side was shut and is now being converted to luxury condos.... please read, share and take the action recommended at the end ot the post.
Wish more 1% would be mindful of their social responsibility . Nice move Mike... But come on Mike is not your silence on the closing of St Vincent's the only hospital serving over a million residents, working people and tourists on the Lower West Side a political act on healthcare? The only trauma 1 Emergency Room so important in any kind of pandemic health crisis closed feels like a very political act that served the interests of the Rudin Real Estate Corporation to build luxury condos in a space that had saved people's lives. Your silence was quite loud to me and other seniors who now have no hospital/ What we will have in three years is a high enter, profit incentive faux hospital with two , 23 hour holding beds to serve in a health crisis like a heart attack, a stroke,o. a blue baby or 9/11 scenario. Not a hospuital but a high end Urgent Care center which will shuttle critical patients to real hospitals across town, traffic willing. It sure seems quite similar to what Susan B. Kornen folks did when they stopped the program to give breast exams to poor women Denial of health services.
