MEET ELIZABETH ADAM: what happens when you have a stroke

Elizabeth Adam is a community organizer, health care worker and senior advocate. She is a member of the Coalition for A New Village Hospital . She lives on West 12th Street in Greenwich Village the neighborhood of the shuttered St Vincent's hospital  and emergency room. On April 1st she suffered a stroke while at work in Brooklyn. She was lucky she was at work and was rushed to a nearby hospital where quick medical intervention relieved the blood cot that cause her stroke and minimized its physical effect. If she had been home, she would not have been so lucky. She would have had to wait for an ambulance to respond and than take her to a hospital some where on the East side of Manhattan. Elizabeth  would have had to wait in an over-populated emergency room over-flowing with patients who would have gone to St Vincent's. On May 1st Jim Fouratt went to visit her and recorded a video interview with Elizabeth. Please watch it because it very simply and clearly explains why we are fighting for a hospital and an emergency room on the lower West Side of Manhattan. Despite the silence of elected officials led by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and State Senator Tom Duane, people,  whose lives could depend on the accessibly of a Hospital,  continue to protest and rally for a hospital on the site of St Vincent's. If you would be willing to sign a petition calling on the Rudin Family who the Bankruptcy Court awarded the St Vincent's campus,  the most valuable piece of real estate in desirable West Village for a fire sale price, to TAKE BACK THE O'TOOLE BUILDING, TEAR IT DOWN AND BUILD THEIR CONDOS ON THE SITE AND LEAVE THE ST VINCENT'S INFRASTRUCTURE SO A HOSPITAL CAN STILL BE PLACED THERE please email us for how to do this. Watch this video with Elizabeth Adam and please share it with your friends, neighbors and co-workers. Please do not be fooled by mailings, politicians posturing, Community Board leaders and media. The 14 URGENT CARE CENTERS now operating on the Wet Side South of 59th St CAN NOT LEGALLY TREAT A LIFE/DEATH medical crisis like Elizabeth's STROKE|    Remember in a health crisis
